The answer: A resounding “No.”
Violence,
immorality,
theft
at the highest levels, greed, materialism,
drugs, pornography,
lust, vulgarity,
dishonesty, drunkenness,
unending egregious wrongs.
America’s
moral decadence.
Christian
values disdained.
I can’t dispute that all these un-Christian behaviors exist
in our society. They exist in every
society, everywhere, throughout the eons.
But, America, like every other society, everywhere,
throughout the eons, also has love, kindness, nurturing, hope, faithfulness, helpfulness,
self-sacrifice, honor, altruism, forgiveness, honesty, compassion, ethics, and
goodness of every kind. These values can be found among all moral people whether they
are Christian or not.
The words in this poem are taken from the rant of an Orlando
Sentinel reader who was a guest columnist. The poem accurately reflects the world-view he presented in his column. How sad it is that he can only see the ugly.
