Tornado Mayhem

Nobody got hurt.

That’s a blessing.

The tornado touched down .

It traveled a mile,

cutting a path of destruction.

It lasted only a minute.

The speedy funnel cloud—

uprooting laurel oak trees,

peeling away roofs,

blowing out windows.

In the wake of all the

booming and thrashing—

a mess of warped metal,

tree branches,

scattered furniture,

shattered glass.

Roof installation shredded on lawns—

a grayish layer on the grass.

Barely a minute…

     and look at what it did.

I’ve never seen a tornado, I never hope to see one, but I can tell you this I know, I’d rather see than be in one.  A tornado hit Volusia County on Monday night.

Twisters' Wrath

A recent spate of tornados.                                           

Rescue crews in search of survivors.

Fears that the death toll will rise.

So much destruction.

Mother Nature’s wrath.

The Tornado tearing

 apart houses, stores, sheds,

and the school.

The Tornado tossing

cars, trucks, and buses.

The Tornado shredding,

toppling, thousands of trees.

The Tornado roaring,

 so loud, your ears hurt.

The Tornado driving

right through the town.

The Tornado ripping

roofs off houses.

Tornados.

Violent storms.

Deaths.

 I personified the storms as “The Tornado”, because it feels like the tornado is a malevolent entity, descending from the skies, cutting a swath of death and destruction.  It reminded me of the “smoke monster” from the TV series, “Lost”.
