Welcome news for Florida and the nation.
Young
people
Who
were brought to America as childrenWho grew up as Americans,
Who think of themselves as Americans,
Who are Americans in all but paperwork.
Young
people
Who
learned English,Who excelled at school,
Who hope to serve this country,
Who pledged allegiance to the flag.
Young
people
Who
will now have a chanceWho will now be able to live freely,
Who will now be able to work legally,
Who now will be able to contribute fully.
Young
people
Who
remind us, In this nation,
It’s not what you look like,
It’s not where you were born.
What
makes you an American,
What
makes you a memberOf our national family?
It’s what you do with your opportunities,
It’s how you live your life.
The House of Representatives, when it was in Democratic
hands, passed the Dream Act. The
Republicans in the Senate blocked it’s passage with a filibuster that requires
60 votes in order to proceed. A total of
55 senators voted “Yes.” All Republican’s
voted “No.”
Republicans have been determined to block every initiative
of the President, and they have the numbers to do it. President Obama is forced to use his
executive powers in order to get anything done.
Reelect President Obama and give him large Democratic majorities
in the House and the Senate. Give Obama
a chance to actually implement his policies and this country will soar to new
heights.
