Rover Revs Up

Elated scientists cheering.
A successful touchdown.
Curiosity on the Red Planet.
 
Thirty-six weeks in space.
A final “seven minutes of terror.”
Curiosity on the Martian surface.
 
A sky-crane operation.
A hovercraft.  A parachute.
Ingenuity and determination.
 
A leap forward for NASA.
Curiosity blazing the trail
for human footprints on Mars.
 
 
This is an incredible achievement.  There will be an amazing amount of data that will enhance our understanding of the universe.
 
The U.S. is winning gold at the Olympics, and this is like winning the gold for space exploration.
